The systems
Shrimp colonies, dwarf crayfish, cultures and supporting systems.
Four Neocaridina lines
Bloody Mary, Blue Diamond, Sunkist Orange, and Yellow Fire / Goldenback colonies form the breeding foundation of the room.
Three Caridina programmes
White captive-bred Amanos (Caridina multidentata), a provisionally identified Caridina typus group, and the new Tangerine Tiger colony support our breeding and lifecycle work.
Live-food culture
Marine Tetraselmis chuii and a separate freshwater green-water culture are available by enquiry. The freshwater algae remain unidentified; T-022 currently holds that culture.
Blue Brazos dwarf crayfish
T-007 now houses the Blue Brazos colony, with territory establishment and behaviour under observation.
Planted shrimp habitats
Mosses, stems, rhizomes, and floaters provide cover and feeding surfaces throughout the room.
One observation project
A separate Barbronia cf. weberi observation project explores freshwater leech behaviour and feeding ecology.
Current focus
Careful progress over quick claims.
We share observations as our breeding, husbandry, and live-food cultures develop.
- Stabilizing distinct shrimp lines with welfare-first husbandry.
- Learning which habitat structures make animal behaviour easier to observe without forcing it.
- Recording reproduction in the white Amano and working-ID typus groups, with a separate marine larval pathway.
- Culturing Tetraselmis chuii and preparing a flow-fed habitat for Atyoida pilipes while sourcing remains in progress.
- Documenting the leech project without turning a provisional identification or an inconclusive feeding trial into a claim.
